Sketch and Flow Landscape

'.............I’m in love with how a painting can engage a viewer with just enough information for it to be read as a landscape.

Flows of watercolour washes overlayed with saturated mark making, pools over masked highlights all interwoven with drawn additions.

I’ve coined my style “scratchy technique”. This could be defined as a loose range of mark making techniques that add to create a painterly finished artwork.  Although a realist painter, accurate reproduction is not my main aim……enjoying the painting process with new approaches is. I say to students, “we aim for essence” of the imagery. So come and enjoy a new watercolour approach that aims for personal exploration and expressive freedom.
