ARTIST NOTES: I set up a shadow box and staged the still life spill of childhood marbles from an heirloom crystal dish: I wanted there to be a sense of motion and playfulness. I used a Canon 6D DSLR to capture the precise moment when the sunlight reflected, refracted and moved through the subjects.
The juxtaposition between a foreground of realism and an interpretive background, saw the work emerge after a hundred hours of finely applied wet on dry washes. This allowed me to push the boundaries and capture the play of light through the glass objects using transparent and opaque watercolours.

ARTIST BIO

From my studio on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, I enjoy working in a variety of media. With a foundation in classical drawing and painting, my art practice is underpinned by a love for larger-than-life, realistic works, which magnify the detail of my subjects.
