ARTIST NOTES: The arboreal rainforests of east coast Australia is home to the Superb Fruit Dove (Ptilinopus superbusthis).

Employing a wet-on-dry technique, I sought to capture the magnificent plumage using watercolour to steadily build up layers and establish a strong underpainting. I then applied a pointillism technique using acryla gouache in various consistencies to overlay and build the texture and detail.

ARTIST BIO

From my studio on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, I enjoy working in a variety of media. With a foundation in classical drawing and painting, my art practice is underpinned by a love for larger-than-life, realistic works, which magnify the detail of my subjects.
