ARTIST NOTES: This artwork is a archival medium of watercolour traditionally painted En Plien Air. The work is drawn upon significant elements from Louise’s life. The background of the work is painted at dusk on Louise’s farm in Buxton, on which she grew up on and still lives on to this day. From the hillside of Mount Cathedial down to her family's winery, while the black and yellow cocktails fly through the sky. Louise highlights four artworks that have inspired the outcome of the work. The pencil sketch from Eugene Von Geurard, was drawn upon from his ‘Trip to the Goulburn Valley, 1862’ a view seen from the hill in Buxton itself. The flower depicted is a Heysen Orchid which flowers on this sight and is a connection to Louise’s past memory with her father. The next two works represent landscapes from Albrecht Durer (left) and JMW Turner (right). Durer painting signifies the first use of watercolour to capture his journey to Italy. Turner’s painting represents the area in which the Foletta name decends from. Louise wanted to create a work that presented history from art within watercolour and from her life, to bring together the past and present.
